Why I Prefer the Blooper Reel
Postcards From The Edge Begins Here
For too long, I thought online business was glamorous.
Laptops in trendy cafés.
People smiling suspiciously while checking how much money hit the account while they slept.
Meanwhile, I was learning that you’re apparently supposed to warm up an autoresponder with plain text emails before inviting subscribers to the party.
Minor detail.
Discovering you’ve spent months talking to yourself is a lousy way to spend a Tuesday.
Funny how nobody mentions that part while posing between a pair of Rolls Royces.
That’s when I realized something.
What’s blasted all over social media are the highlight reels.
Where are the blooper reels?
The occasional self-inflicted technical catastrophe.
The painful and embarrassing discoveries you’d rather not admit publicly.
The wake up call when reality taps you on the shoulder and says, “Hey, you might want to sit down for this.”
So I’m starting a weekly series called:
Postcards From The Edge
Think of them as my blooper reel.
Every postcard will include:
- What punched me in the face.
- A lesson worth stealing.
- A few laughs at my expense.
- Something useful you can apply immediately.
Pretending I’ve arrived might flatter my ego.
But it won’t help anybody.
I’d rather document the unexpected plot twists and lessons learned somewhere between confidence and confusion.
If a few of these postcards save you some bruises along the way, then I’ve done my job.
Wish you were here.
